The 2013 Chasco Fiesta will take place April 5 - April 13, 2013. We realize that the event normally takes place in March, but for reasons beyond our control we had to change this. One issue is that Easter will fall on March 31, which is early. The Steering Committee did not want the event to end on that weekend because it would be difficult to book talent for the Country Concert, and it would be difficult for the food vendors who are mostly volunteers to tear down on Easter Sunday. The Strawberry Festival will be February 28 - March 10, which we do not want to coincide with. The next option would be to start on March 15, but that would make the Chasco Fiesta Street Parade the same day as the St. Patrick's Day Parade in Ybor City. There are lots of Krewes that would not be able to attend the Chasco Parade if it was the same day as the St. Patrick's Day Parade, and we know that the kiddles don't want to miss out on the beads. That left the beginning of April as the best alternative.
We had a conference call with mother nature and she assured us that the weather would be perfect. She is going to hold off on the summer heat and reduce the humidity. She apologized profusely for the boat parade monsoon. Apparently she had been watching a chick flick and let her emotions get the best of her. So plan your vacations a little later, or just add a couple weeks to your stay. See you in April of 2013!
